July 25th through July 27th

Brief Camp Description

Throughout the duration of this three day camp, the students will have
opportunities to experience the Sandy Creek Watershed and the various water resources located within it. Camp will emphasize the concept that “everyone lives downstream” and the importance of maintaining water quality by not only caring for water, but also the surrounding lands. New this year will be a special
emphasis on forestry and its role in water quality, highlighting how a watershed has many parts and is not simply focused on one aspect. The camp organism this year will be the sycamore tree.

Transportation will be provided to and from Maurice K. Goddard State Park daily.

We will highlight stream monitoring, characteristics of a lakes versus streams, and forests within the watershed.
Participants will have an opportunity to enjoy a 2 1/2 mile interpretive hike through the forest around Maurice K. Goddard State Park with DCNR Forester Dave Cole.
On the last day of camp, students will have the opportunity to kayak on Lake Wilhelm cooperatively with DCNR State Parks. Camp will end at Munnell Run Farm with lunch and a small camp awards ceremony.
