Mercer Girl Scouts
In 2002, the Mercer Girl Scout Service Unit established a series of eight raised garden beds at Munnell Run Farm. Funding for the project was provided through the Lindsay Fund, and the labor to build the beds was furnished by the Mercer Conservation District. Since then, Mercer area Girl Scouts have donated fresh produce and herbs from the gardens to area food banks each growing season. They also grow flowers and arrange them into bouquets for residents at the nearby Woodland Place nursing home complex. Project participants learn valuable gardening skills and provide a valuable community service, as well. To learn how you can become involved with this worthwhile project, please contact the Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council.
