Trees-n-Me—July 8: Trees play a much bigger role in our everyday lives than we often realize. Today we’ll travel to our Munnell Run Farmwood lot, hike the trails, and take a closer look at the trees that do so much for us. No sandals for this one, please!
That’s Corny!—July 15: Field corn, sweet corn, popcorn, ornamental corn, and broomcorn. We’ll learn all about corn—how it grows, how we use it, and why it’s a major farmcrop-- AND find out which one isn’t really “corn” at all! Corn plays a much bigger role in our lives than we may realize. In fact, it’s even more American than apple pie, since corn is a crop that’s native to America, but the apples we know aren’t!
Wetland Wonders—July 22: Today we’ll learn about the three things that make a wetland a wetland. We’ll take a hike through our own Munnell Run Farm wetland and find out more about some of the plants and animals that live there through a fun scavenger hunt. Long pants, boots or old shoes are highly recommended. Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray, too!
Fun on the Farm—July 29: It’s the good old summertime and today we’ll do the things the kids like best—visit the trout nursery, go for a ride on our farm wagon, visit the stream, walk in the woods, hunt insects, and make (and eat!) homemade ice cream.
